For about 20 years

I have been wanting to share my stories about travels. I became an accountant instead. We all have amazing stories to tell. Mine center around world travel.

What do I want to talk about?

I want to talk about the hundreds of stories constantly swirling around in my head, like the time the old lady in Lesotho took my backpack and carried it across the Senqu river for me because I was struggling to carry it myself. Or the time a student gifted me with a small fish from the same river with hardly any meat on it, but I cooked it anyway and ate as much of it as I could.

Or the time a stranger at the airport asked me to carry a pack of seeds for them on my flight from Cairo to Athens. Or the time some teachers and I wanted to teach the school girls how to sing Stairway to Heaven instead of the Hokey Pokey. Or the time I fainted in line at the bank in Lesotho, where it was normal to wait 3+ hours.

Yes, these things really happened, and they have been swirling around in my mind for many years (and thankfully documented in my journals which I meticulously wrote in every day). At any given moment there are at least 5 stories in my head. On long train rides, before the internet, I would list all the countries in Africa in my head to help pass the time. There are 54, give or take a recent independence.

And I love to travel; at any given moment I am thinking of no less than 5 countries in my head. And other things I am constantly thinking about like how many pieces the Statue of Liberty was divided into and delivered to the USA from France. In what state in Mexico was Carlos Santana born? What year did the USSR break up? Why is there fighting in Senegal right now? We are all amazing people with amazing stories to tell. And I want to tell mine.
