I have been in Las Palmas, Canary Islands since August 8. I depart back on the ferry to mainland Spain on Monday. Will have been here 11 days. Would like to stay longer. Not ready to leave. But thankful for this time here.
The majority of my sightseeing was done on foot. I wanted to take a day tour around the entire island, but at this point had to weigh the price against how much more travelling I will do. I could spend $48 USD for this tour, or pay for 3 more days of accommodation in Seville. I opted to save it for the accommodation.
I pledge that I will come back, and while I always say that about places knowing I won’t. I think this is one place where I actually might return. Not because I didn’t do enough sightseeing. It’s because this is a nice place to be. The first hotel where I stayed didn’t have ideal workspace. Even so, the place was cozy. The room was no frills basic, but the rooftop space was nice. the 2nd place (an AirBNB which is always a last resort for me because I don’t favor them) made everything right. Not because the owner is half Italian and half American (New Yorker to be exact) and has an aunt who lives in Brooklyn. But because everything fit just right. The kitchen space with cute dishes (most of which were from IKEA). The very hospitable host on sight. The strong wifi with lots of open space to work. And nice views with a nice breeze. I finally was able to do some solid work, digital nomad style.
Now I want to go.
